Gold & Silver Price Today — Live Global Spot Rate
The live international gold and silver price, in Indian Rupees per gram, updated continuously.
This is the international spot price (COMEX), not the Indian retail rate. It does not include import duty, GST, or making charges — the number your local jeweller or IBJA quotes will run roughly 14–18% higher. Use this to track global price movement, not as a retail buying price.
What This Price Actually Is
The numbers above are the live global spot price for gold and silver — the raw international market rate, the same benchmark used by traders, ETFs, and financial institutions worldwide. It is derived from COMEX gold and silver futures and converted to Indian Rupees using the current USD/INR exchange rate. This is the number that moves first when the market reacts to inflation data, central bank policy, or a currency shift — before any local Indian pricing catches up to it.
Why This Differs From the Gold Rate You See Elsewhere
Every gold or silver rate quoted in India — by IBJA, a jeweller, or a finance app — starts from this same international spot price and then adds three layers of cost on top of it:
- 1Import duty — India imports nearly all its gold and silver, and duty adds roughly 15% to the landed cost.
- 2GST — a further 3% is added under India's goods and services tax.
- 3Dealer margin and making charges — varies by seller, typically another few percent on bullion and considerably more on jewellery.
Stack all three together and the retail price you'd actually pay typically lands 14–18% above the spot number shown on this page. Neither number is "wrong" — they answer different questions. Spot tells you what gold and silver are worth on the world market right now. Retail tells you what it costs to walk out of a shop with it.
Gold vs Silver — Today's Movement
Gold and silver don't always move together. Gold tends to track macro signals — inflation expectations, central bank buying, currency strength — and moves in relatively small daily percentages. Silver has meaningful industrial demand (electronics, solar panels) alongside its investment role, which makes it noticeably more volatile day to day. The gold-to-silver ratio — how many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold — is a common reference point traders watch alongside the two prices themselves.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. This is the international spot price — the raw global market rate for gold and silver, converted to INR. What you pay at a jeweller or see quoted by IBJA includes import duty (around 15%), GST (3%), and the dealer's own making and wastage charges on top of this number. Expect the retail price to run roughly 14-18% higher than what's shown here.
