About Market Cap Investing

Market capitalisation — the total value of all outstanding shares — is the most fundamental filter in stock investing. Each size band attracts different investors, carries different risk profiles, and responds differently to market cycles.

Penny stocks under ₹50 carry near-unlimited upside potential but come with near-zero liquidity and high governance risk. Micro caps under ₹100 Cr market cap are where multi-baggers are born — these are businesses small enough that a single good product cycle can double or triple the company's size. Small caps (₹500–5,000 Cr) offer the best risk-reward for patient investors: real, established businesses with significant growth runway. This is the sweet spot where retail investors can still find alpha before institutional money piles in.

Mid caps (₹5,000–20,000 Cr) blend the proven track record of large caps with the growth potential of small caps — the 'Goldilocks zone' of Indian equity investing. Large caps above ₹20,000 Cr are the backbone of any serious portfolio: stable, liquid, increasingly global, and well-researched. These screens help you find quality within each size band — not just any stock, but fundamentally sound businesses that happen to be the right size for your strategy.
