About SME IPOs in India
SME IPOs are initial public offerings from small and medium enterprises that list on the BSE SME platform or the NSE Emerge platform. These are designed to provide smaller companies access to public capital markets with a lighter regulatory burden than the mainboard.
Key differences from mainboard IPOs: higher minimum lot sizes (often ₹1–2 lakh per lot), market makers required for liquidity, lower float, and less analyst coverage. SME IPOs can deliver extraordinary gains but also carry higher downside risk.
